The Last Andy received development funding in June this year and since then we’ve been working hard to develop the script, character and environment designs. The funding covers the development of what is known as a pitch reel, which isn’t quite a trailer and it isn’t quite a pilot episode – it’s about six minutes to set up your world, your characters and the story in an attempt to attract sufficient interest in the concept to then develop a pilot. It’s kind of a proof of concept document in many ways.
This has been a tricky concept to grapple with in many ways and it’s been great working with writers Colin & Cameron Cairnes who have really helped to hone the epic story into an easily digestible six minute animation script. Kudos has to go to Scott Bartlett’s awesome character designs, It’s amazing how a piece of art can inform character and story.
We’ve recorded some dialogue with voice over artists Luke Orrin and Sami Rovtar and will now create a bit of an animated storyboard document – its not quite an animatic and not quite a comic…
